Personal Care & School Kit Collection

On Kick Off Sunday, after the 10:30am service, together, we will assemble 100 personal care kits and 100 school kits for refugees around the world, to be distributed by Lutheran World Relief.

You can help by signing up to provide some supplies, by helping with the assembly on September 10th, or by making a financial donation toward purchasing supplies. Donated supplies need to be turned in to Saint Luke by September 3rd.

During the season of Thanksgiving, we will collect non-perishable food and cleaning items for our local food pantry. Cereal, granola bars, crackers, mayo, ketchup, mustard, juice boxes, oatmeal, paper goods, toothbrushes, toothpaste are especially needed. If you’re able to provide these for one of the 125 families served each month by the Great Valley Food Cupboard, please drop them off in the box outside Schlack Hall before November 26th.

JYG: Junior Youth Gathering

JYG is Spark’s cornerstone Confirmation Retreat for all students in grades 6-9. Come have a blast and grow in your faith while staying at Refreshing Mountain Retreat in Lancaster, PA.  Students will gather at Saint Luke at 5:00 pm on Saturday, will spend the night at Refreshing Mountain Retreat in Lancaster, and will return to Saint Luke by 5:30 pm. on Sunday. Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors.  Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10 percent of that eligible population actually do each year.  Each donation matters! One donated pint of blood can save as many as three lives.

The Phillies will be hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks for Lutheran Night! Saint Luke plans to purchase tickets on the 200 level along the first base line (sections 206-211 or 233-237) for $38.00 each. In addition to purchasing tickets for yourself, you can also provide children from Silver Springs Martin Luther School the opportunity to attend the game. Tickets make a great gift for that sports fan in your life, it’s a lot of good Saint Luke fun, and proceeds benefit Synod youth programs.

At Saint Luke, everyone is welcome to participate in Holy Communion. No exceptions.
It is also a priority to provide learning about Holy Communion and support for parents as you discern when your child will begin to participate. Holy Communion is always included in Sunday School (especially in 5th grade) and Confirmation. The Holy Communion Workshop for younger children (along with parents) who:
• already receive communion
• are ready to begin
• want to learn more while your family discerns whether to begin participation.

Large Catechism Workshop

If you were confirmed in the Lutheran Church, then you “know” Luther’s Small Catechism. But, his Large Catechism is equally rich! In this workshop at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chester Springs, Rev Dr. Karl Krueger will lead a program exploring the wonderful guides that Luther wrote for parishioners and pastors alike.  Karl is a historian by training, and a story-teller at heart. Fitting well with our 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Large Catechism Workshop is not an event to miss! Faith Development in Young Children

Do you desire to nurture faith in your little one, but feel unsure where to start? Come and get to know other parents, enjoy refreshments, and learn from Kathy Seaton about how to nurture faith in children 0-5 years old. Kathy is currently lead for Pre-K development at Agnes Irwin School and is an early childhood specialist for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Free childcare for children 0-5 years old is available, simply mention it when you RSVP.
