The Rev. Dr. R. Guy Erwin is the president of United Lutheran Seminary (Gettysburg & Philadelphia) and Ministerium of Pennsylvania Chair and Professor of Reformation Studies. Prior to this appointment, he was bishop of the Southwest California Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the first Native American (a member of the Osage Nation) and gay man in the office Bishop for the ELCA. He is a world renowned Lutheran Reformation Scholar, in demand to present lectures around the United States and Germany. He has been on faculty at Yale Seminary and California Lutheran University before his election as Bishop, and then appointment as Seminary president.
