Join us as we observe “Juneteenth” in song and word during worship, with prayers, special music, and Guest Preacher, SEPA’s Co-Director for Evangelical Mission, The Rev. Dr. Moses Suah-Dennis “Juneteenth”—June 19th, 1865 is a federal holiday commemorating when the last of the slaves in the United States finally learned of their freedom brought about by the Emancipation Proclamation (signed two years earlier). It’s a day to remember the evils of slavery and ongoing struggle for civil rights for Black Americans; it’s a day to celebrate Black culture; and it’s a day to rededicate ourselves to working toward equality and justice for all.
