Students will learn what hunger really feels like by not eating for 30 hours while participating in discussions, games, and fighting hunger in our community. We will participate in the "Feeding Thousands" meal packing event on Saturday. The 30 Hour Famine will end with Holy Communion to feed our souls and a fabulous pot luck supper to feed our bodies.
Friday, October 19
Students participating in full hunger experience should stop eating after lunch. For a 24-hour fast, stop eating at 4pm, for a 30-hour fast, stop eating by 10am. (Students are encouraged to experience hunger through this exercise, but safety is also a priority. Simple snacks will be available when needed. Students that do not sleep over at the event will also have the opportunity to eat while at home).
6pm - Gather in Schlack Hall
Friday evening will include setting up for Feeding Thousands, icebreaker games, learning about hunger, and time to build relationships. Students not sleeping over can be picked up between 9-10:30pm.
