Fall Food Drive

During the season of Thanksgiving, we will collect non-perishable food and cleaning items for our local food pantry. Cereal, granola bars, crackers, mayo, ketchup, mustard, juice boxes, oatmeal, paper goods, toothbrushes, toothpaste are especially needed. If you’re able to provide these for one of the 125 families served each month by the Great Valley Food Cupboard, please drop them off in the box outside Schlack Hall before November 26th.

We will then meet for lunch around 11:45am at Le Pain Quotidian in Wayne. We'll share food, get to know one another, and discuss what we heard in the forum.

Do you need a quiet space in the midst of holiday business? Stop by anytime from 7:30-7:45 pm to walk a labyrinth by candlelight in the sanctuary, or sit in the pews by candlelight with quiet music. At 7:50, we will gather to pray and share Holy Communion. A simple wine and cheese fellowship will follow.

In addition to putting faith into action, students have the opportunity to define their values and discover the value of service. 

We will stop for frozen yogurt on the way back to Saint Luke, so students are welcome to bring spending money.

2:00 p.m.  A  traditional service with carols, communion, a Children’s sermon, & candle-lighting.   

4:00 p.m.  A kid-friendly service with carols, glow sticks, communion, and a special kids' message. 

7:00 & 11:00 p.m.  Festive traditional services with carols, candle-lighting, & communion.

Appalachia Service Project

Appalachia Service Project

Students in 8th-12th grade, along with adults, will spend a week in West Virginia putting their faith into action, making homes warmer, safer and drier. As we work side-by-side, we will forge strong friendships, lives will be changed, and we will learn from our neighbors in Appalachia. Representatives from Chester County will share about elder care and justice, as well as services that Chester County provides to address the needs of the elderly population in the area. The presentation will be helpful to current and future seniors, care givers and family members. Bring along a bag lunch and also enjoy refreshments and deserts provided by the Stephen Ministry Team. 5th & 6th graders will love Wacky Bowling! Wacky Bowling is bowling with a fun twist. Eyes closed, left handed, granny style -- You never know what you are going to get, but you are sure to have a blast with Club 56! JYG is Spark’s cornerstone Confirmation Retreat for all students in grades 6-9. Come have a blast and grow in your faith while staying at Refreshing Mountain Retreat in Lancaster, PA.  Students will gather at Saint Luke at 5:00 pm on Saturday, will spend the night at Refreshing Mountain Retreat in Lancaster, and will return to Saint Luke by 5:30 pm. on Sunday. The cost for the retreat is $95.

Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors.  Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10 percent of that eligible population actually do each year.  Each donation matters! One donated pint of blood can save as many as three lives.

Lutherans and Catholics will mark the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation with an ecumenical seminar and worship at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale, PA. Speakers, Rev. Donald McCoid and Dr. John Borelli, will highlight theological progress toward unity. Worship will be led by The Rev. Peter Donahue, president of Villanova University, and Bishop Claire Burkat. The cost is $15, which includes lunch. This event is one of many wonderful SEPA synod Reformation 500 events.

Her talk “On and Beyond Native American Reservations” will focus on three personal reflections: the challenges and importance of (1) communicating misconceptions about Native American people and history, (2) learning in healing broken relationships, and (3) approaching present and future issues facing Native people. Personal Care & School Kit Collection

On Kick Off Sunday, after the 10:30am service, together, we will assemble 100 personal care kits and 100 school kits for refugees around the world, to be distributed by Lutheran World Relief.

You can help by signing up to provide some supplies, by helping with the assembly on September 10th, or by making a financial donation toward purchasing supplies. Donated supplies need to be turned in to Saint Luke by September 3rd.
